The Station in Waimarino

"Mitch from ​Tongariro Crossing Shuttles dropped me off at The Station. I started off with an Americano , and enjoyed watching the car park from a table inside. A man on an ATV zipped by on a drive/walk with his two adorable dogs. On the way back the smaller dog was riding in his lap while the bigger dog ran behind them. The music inside was a Brazilian playlist, very chill, Seu George and Anna de Marta. I looked at the Sara and McIntyre book, and got the inspiration to take a walk. Went for my walk, came back and got an amazing Chicken Burger and ginger beer! The station’s staff are very nice and welcoming. Highly recommended, place hits all the high notes!"

"This is our local cafe, so we come here often. During the day it’s an excellent spot for some train spotting while enjoying an excellent coffee which has to be accompanied by the parmesan cheese scones which are always delicious. The breakfast and lunch meals are also consistently good especially the chicken burger. They also open for dinner a few nights a week (currently Thursday to Saturday). If you’re lucky to visit for dinner, the lamb shoulder is top notch but do not skip the crème brûlée! The service is also always fantastic and friendly. Highly recommended!"

"What an amazing place ! We loved this cafe/restaurant so much that we came to eat here every week for 2 months and a half. The Station is a must go if you come across Waimarino. We will definitely be back"

"We were fortunate to have chanced upon this newly opened cafe. The owners were very warm and welcoming and the cafe is cosy and beautifully renovated. The food and coffee were excellent. Every component of 'The Station' breakfast plate was delicious, especially the potato cake! The apricot and coconut porridge was also one of the best oatmeals we've ever eaten. A kids menu was available and the colouring sheets and pencils were a nice touch for our little ones. We stayed much longer than we planned as we were so comfortable there. Thank you to the owners for their hospitality! Highly recommend a stop here if you are in the Tongariro National Park."

"What a quaint little cafe! The food was absolutely delicious. I got the French Toast and a Parmesan Scone, and my friend got the Omlette and a slice of Lemon Cake. We were both very full and satisfied by the end of our meal! The food gives quite elevated vibes for what I would say is very reasonable pricing, considering other meals I've had around the Central North Island. While the menu is limited, it seems that each meal available is one they have mastered. I would highly recommend stopping here if you are in the National Park/Waimarino area!"

"We visited the Station Cafe for the first time and were blown away! The food was amazing—hands down the best bread pudding I’ve ever had. The hostess and waitstaff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. Absolutely loved this little gem and will definitely be recommending it to others!"
